Rose growing, harvesting of rose petals and the distilling of rose water has great significance for the mountain communities. From March to May, Shareiga, Al Ainm Wadi Bani Habib, and Seiq are alive with the colour of the rosy blossoms flourishing in April.

Rose growing and rose water distilling provides alivelihood for many inhabitants and villages.Rose Water is used in different preparations and an additive for the Omani coffee and sweets. It is also used to keep village houses freshly-scented. Rose water manufacturing involves many stages of production according to a recipe passed down over many grnerations. It's produced in homes where the bowl containing the picked roses is put over a stove. A smaller metal bowl is put inside the big one to produce condensed vapor and is then covered to capture as much condensed water as possible.

The day-long process passes through many stages. First, when the metal bowls are filled with the condensed vapor, the liquid is then poured into pottery jars. After aging for about a month, the rose water is then ready for sale. this traditional method of roe water production is gradually being replaced by more efficient techniques being introduced by the Agriculture Development Center.
