
Fruit growing is a major activity in Al-Jabal Al-Akhdar. Pomegranate, grapes vines, walnut, peach, apricot, quince, apple and pear are all grown in and around the villages. Also, there are several native fruit like 'Butt' (monotheca buxifiolia), a staple in the local diet.
Historical documents tell of Imam Saif bin Sultan (known as 'Qaid Al Ardh') Planting fruit trees like pomegranate, grapes, walnuts, and almonds. This may explain why the mountain is called "Al-jabal Al-Akhdar". When it was previously known as Radhwa or riam Mountain.
The growing and selling of local product is very popular and includes pomegranates, almonds, Indian fig, thyme, germander and fragrant rose water. As different fruit ripen throughout the year, visitors can enjoy freshly picked fruit around the year.
